Taipei Tech bring two awards back from Taipei International Design Award

In order to constantly convey a city brand image of “ Design Taipei, Dream Taipei” to people who are passionate about creativeness and design around the globe, Taipei City Government organizes the “Taipei International Design Award” with the sense of “Design for Adaptive City”. The city government openly selects outstanding design works among international entries and severs this competition as a creative design exchange platform to discover design works with business potential, to encourage practices of social design, and to embrace the avocation of making a better and more convenient life. 

The 2017 Taipei International Design Award announced its winners on Oct. 26. Led by Dr. Zheng Mong-cong, Taipei Tech team won two Distinction of Industrial Design awards with their works Wingnal and Equidistant.

According to the team’s description, Wingnal is a device on window that shows indoor temperature as a warning preventing firefighters from entering a too dangerous zone. Equidistant can help novice learn to sew a neat lines. This design is to add a color on the needles. Users can consider the length of the color as a reference to the sewing thread through the sewing process.
