2017 Seed Teacher Training Camp of Innovation and Entrepreneurship

In order to cultivate high quality faculties for teaching innovation and entrepreneurship, Taipei Tech held the 2017 Seed Teacher Training Camp of Innovation and Entrepreneurship on campus on September 6. Experts and scholars from government, industry, and academia are invited to share their wisdom to the future seed teachers. Nearly 160 faculties from the University System of Taipei participated in the half-day camp.

Prof. Yang Shi-xuan, Dean of the Office of Academic Affair, welcomed guests and wished a successful event in his opening remark. Taipei Tech values entrepreneur spirit in our students and had already developed a rounded system for related talent cultivation including curriculum, expert from industry as faculty and fundraising platform, etc.

Deputy Counselor of the New Southbound Policy Office Chen Yu-ren gave a speech on how to cultivate talents in response to the New Southbound Policy launched last year. Deputy Counselor Chen noted that the New Southbound Policy focuses on human and culture within the region. Therefore, government wants to integrate enterprise, university, and talent for the sake of increasing Taiwan’s influence in Eastern and South Asia countries. One of the goals of schools in Taiwan is to export their vocational education. Many of Taiwan’s education features are expected to attract overseas students such as abundant opportunities and resource, open academic atmosphere, and safe campus environment, etc. Moreover, authority also encourages schools to set up subsidy, language course, and internship program toward New Southbound Policy nations including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and so on. The two hour speech gave understand how universities can do in talent cultivation in response to New Southbound Policy.

Three sessions discuss about some real samples in innovation teaching community and cross-domain research community. The keynote speakers include Dr. Wu Rui-yu and Dr. Lu Long-sheng from Taipei Medical University, and Prof. Wang Guan-sheng from National Taipei University.

Prof. Wang Guan-sheng began his talk by sharing three stories of National Taipei University graduates starting a business. After that, Prof Wang talked about his thoughts on what an ideal faculty community means.

Prof. Wu Rui-yu used Taipei Medical University’s curriculum design as an example to show people what innovations has been done in cultivating future medical professionals.

Prof. Lu Long-sheng talked about his experience in several cross-domain research teams. The cooperation between medical and electrical engineering broke the limit of sole field and created more creative and customized products for patients such as 3D print medical device.
