Developing Research Strengths and International Collaboration: conference on campus

Taiwan government launched the New Southbound Policy and Higher Education plan, designed to metric how universities evaluate their research performance and international competitiveness. Both initiatives assess research strengths and future positioning amongst world universities. They allow Taiwan universities to develop their own performance indicators, giving priority to research development by proposing strategies to promote and strengthen their international research collaboration programs.

In order to discover more possibilities in universities’ development future, Taipei Tech and Elsevier co-organized the Developing Research Strengths and International Collaboration conference on September 8 at Taipei Tech. More than 100 university delegates from all over the world attended the conference.

Taipei Tech Vice President Yu Zheng-jie expressed his greeting toward attendants in opening remark. As the host of this event, Taipei Tech also shared its academia-industrial research collaboration experiences in the presentation given by Prof. Shiao-shing Chen, Dean of International Office.

The conference features high-level representatives from leading research organizations examining the evolving expectations, available solutions, measurements and best practices, associated with the optimization of research strategies. These topics include:

-Academia-industrial research collaboration: Taipei Tech experience

-Leveraging SciVal to Deliver Insights and Strengthen Institutional Research

-Using Advanced Metrics to Identify Unique Institutional Research Strengths, Recruit and Retain Talent, and

-Drive More Productive University-Industry Partnerships

-Enhance research performance and Citation Impact in Queen’s University Belfast

-International Research Collaboration and Collaboration Opportunities in University of Malaya

During two Q&A sessions, participants engaged in lively discussions on how to better use research tools to enhance and track an university’s academic performance. Many questions had been answered yet more are leave to be continued as well as the connection and friendship created on this day.
