Inauguration of Wang Sea-fue as 14th President of Taipei Tech

Since Taipei Tech 13th President Dr. Leehter Yao was promoted to the Ministry of Education as Political Deputy Minister in March, 2017, Vice President Dr. Wenlung Li became the Acting President until January, 2018. The result of Taipei Tech 14th President Election came out on November 17, 2017. Dr. Wang Sea-fue, Taipei Tech Distinguished Professor of Department of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering, was elected as Taipei Tech’s new President and officially arrived at his post on February 1, 2018.

President Wang Sea-fue is an alumnus of Provincial Taipei Institute of Technology, the predecessor of Taipei Tech. President Wang completed his Doctoral degree at Pennsylvania State University in Materials Science in 1991. In 1993, President Wang worked as senior R&D engineer at Vitramon Inc. (Vishay Intertechnology). In August 1997, President Wang came back to Taiwan and taught at Taipei Tech till now. He has abundant administrative experience including being the Dean of College of Engineering for 3 years and Vice President for 4 years before he was elected as President. In 2003, President Wang established the Center of EMO Materials and Nanotechnology and has been the Director of this center since. President Wang is also the Chairperson of Taiwan Ceramic Society and Powders and Powder Metallurgy Association of the Republic of China and Deputy Director of the Materials Research Society, Taiwan.

President Wang noted that vocational education is an effective solution to talent shortage and industrial stagnation. In order to face global challenge, Taipei Tech prepares students with four key abilities including profession knowledge and technique, cross-domain learning, global mobility, and physical strength. President Wang also believed that university social responsibility is an important part when speaking of practical teaching and learning and industrial R&D.
