Golden Pin Design Award announced its 2020 nomination. The 21 designs from Taipei Tech excelled at the Young Pin Design Award among the 12,000 students across 64 universities and received 23 nominations by different features. These designs are some kinds of burden-easing lifehacks, and some life-saving installments or devices out of daily safety concerns. Here are the prize-winning works and ideas conceived by Taipei Tech Industrial Design students.

Daily-Deli

Designer: Jie Ho, Wei-Zhe Huang
Daily-Deli is the safety kit designed especially for food deliverers, including a helmet, a vest, and a delivery bag. The helmet has the head-up display projectable on the visor to indicate necessary information about directions, time, and orders. The vest is deployed with a leveler, a speed sensor and an airbag to prepare for any possible traffic accident. The two-layer delivery bag enables a larger capacity to accommodate more food. It also contains adjustable panels to fit all the sizes of the food packs, making the delivery of steadiness and good efficiency.

SAVIOUR

Designer: Zhi-Shan Huang, Wan-Ru Wu
SAVIOUR is the eco-friendly swimming ring designed for third-world children to learn how to swim. Statistics indicated an estimated 320,000 people dying of drowning which becomes the third leading cause of the unintentional injury-related death in the world. It is thus important for every child to access a swimming ring or a kickboard at a lower economic and ecological cost when learning how to survive in water. SAVIOUR is assembled with recycled plastic bottles to generate enough buoyant force. The design makes it much easier for the NGOs to collect the components and distribute to the third world children or any other swimming learners in need.

Other designs are conveniently applicable to room organization and traveling. COOKIE, designed by Ji-Qing Luo and Zhu-Yu Lin, is the multi-functional furniture to turn a cramped and disarrayed bedroom into a compact and organize one. Wan-Ru Wu and Yi-Zhen Lin’s DOUBLE BAG is the Taiwanese vintage grocery shopping bag with thermal-insulated materials and is capacity-adjustable. Ming Jiang’s Units functions as either vacuumed or air-inflated bag for travelers to save more space or secure fragile things in the luggage.
