TAIPEI TECH President Yao Connected with Global University Leaders

What happens when you take top leaders from various universities around the world, and put them in a room together to exchange ideas about how to succeed in global higher education?

An answer may emerge on April 1 to 3, when more than 120 global university leaders take part in a series of in-depth discussion at the 5th QS world class conference at Jeju, Korea. This year’s conference gave special attention to impact of higher education rankings on academic and research.

TAIPEI TECH(National Taipei University of Technology, NTUT) President Yao and Dean of international affairs office, professor Huang were the representatives of NTUT to participate this conference. The conference was intended to serve as a forum through which universities can identify and take advantage of international collaboration opportunities.

Several speakers in the conference had pointed out that the major impact of higher education rankings lead to the discussion within the academic communities; and these discussions translated to a driving force propelling university to face the coming challenging.

After the presentation by Prof John C Mubangizi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Kwazulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa, about South Africa Education, President Yao had the chance to announce of new mission of NTUT, establishing a Taiwan Education Center in South Africa. Under the guidance of Minister of Education Taiwan, NTUT will be in charge to establish an education center in South Africa, and the major role of the center is to promote the education and culture of Taiwan.

In addition, President Yao had exchanged ideas with Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Technologi Malaysia. They agreed on implantation of innovating program to educate students to become the entrepreneurs of tomorrow is the current mission of today's higher education.

The 2012 QS world class is a great opportunity for NTUT (TAIPEI TECH) to expand its reputation and connect to the global universities. The name, NTUT (TAIPEI TECH) had reach deep into various global universities leaders’ mind. The visibilities of NTUT (TAIPEI TECH) had made another big leaped.
