Taipei Tech is prepared for the picture to change and towards "Green University."

EV-1 made by Taipei Tech

Though the world faces enormous energy hurdles in the coming decades as developing countries modernize, Taipei Tech is the pioneer and prominent university that has designed its own electric vehicle called EV-1. In addition, Taipei Tech is the main core of developing electrical vehicle, and will cooperate the plan of "Intelligent Electric Vehicle" with the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs.

According to President Yao, Taipei Tech will import 200 electric cars called THINK, the first electric vehicle to be fully safety certified in Europe and in the U.S., in the next two years. THINK is the world's leading dedicated electric vehicle maker and has been developing and producing zero-emission urban mobility solutions since the early 1990s, and it is one of a few companies that is currently offering an all-electric, highway-capable car for sale in Europe and the U.S.

President Yao also mentioned Taipei Tech will build 95 energy storage devices and regeneration devices at campus parking lots. The other part of campus will have the electric vehicle showcase and hospital to assist the electric vehicle's running condition. By having the maintenance electric vehicle experiences with the development techniques, perhaps Taipei Tech could grow and become the professional maintenance center for electric vehicle.

Yu-Yhi Wu, professor at Vehicle Engineering Department, said Taipei Tech is improving the three core techniques: battery, power control, and regeneration system. Through these developments and the cooperation with industries, the electrical vehicles will develop much faster and more inefficient in both academic and practical design. In addition, to develop the electrical vehicle that is made in Taiwan.
