
Taipei Tech and Taipei City Government join hands to establish the DaBaDe High-Tech Business District Alliance on April 8, 2015. Wen-je KO, mayor of Taipei City, also attended and witnessed the establishment ceremony.
Future plans for development of the DaBaDe High-Technology Business District include local landmarks such as HuaShan 1914 Creative Park, Taipei Brewery, Guang Hua computer market, and Taipei Tech. Sparks between culture, technology, and creativity of young people are expected in the future.
Located in the axes of Taipei, Taipei Tech has both the location and expertise to assist in integrating community resources, boosting area development, and shaping district features.
As the provider of industrial and research manpower, Taipei Tech strives to connect at a deeper level with the community by applying the school’s knowledge and experience in the areas of technology, entrepreneurship, cultural and creative industry, and ecology.
As Taiwan’s most historical training ground for entrepreneurs, Taipei Tech continues to lead as a business incubator and a leading institute of higher learning in technological innovation and research. Taipei Tech has always contributed actively to the community, installing designing technology galleries in the neighborhood, building open laboratories, cultivating research and development human resources, etc.
Collaboration between industry and academia has always been emphasized in the culture of Taipei Tech. Taipei Tech encourages students to work as interns and learn practical skills via direct participation in relevant industries. To give an example, a student from the Department of Design could choose to be an intern at the nearby HuaShan 1914 Creative Park. “Beyond the campus classrooms, it has always been a unique trait of Taipei Tech culture to connect ourselves to the land and the society of Taiwan.” said Taipei Tech President Leehter Yao. The cooperation with Taipei City government brought Taipei Tech’s efforts to help develop and grow with the community to a whole new level.
In addition to student participation in business, Taipei Tech also provides assistance to those who want to start a business on campus. Bringing together the resources of its teachers, students, and alumni, Taipei Tech Developing Corporation is founded as a company to raise funds, evaluate the viability of business projects, as well as increasing the profits of school patents. Complementing the Taipei Tech Developing Corp.is “i-foundry,” a facility that is established with the aim to provide various aidsin the forms of technological know-how, experience sharing, professional skills, funds, mentor training, and matchmaking, to those who want to set up a new business.
