Design Project : Post-disaster Autonomous Settlement
Designer : Chun-Yung Wang(from the Department of Architecture at Taipei Tech)
Project Brief :
After the disaster, urban population plummets to its lowest record. Now only scavengers and farmers populate the city. People erect walls for protection and grow their own food and supplies. Within these walls, people begin to build vertical settlements and farming became just as important as religion. Public areas are plotted for the sole purpose of growing foods and the demands of food consumption are recorded and reflected upon the volume of these farming space. After the installation of these public spaces, parametric logic is then utilized to decide the most efficient mode for the individual planting units. Settlements are constructed on the existing foundations of current infrastructures, creating a new mode of architecture that also changes the way people live.

Project Brief :
The Taipei Prefecture, located at the intersection of two of Taipei's most important axis, throughout Taipei's history has always played a role important enough to affect the lifestyle of its residents within that era. Today, due to the movement of Taipei's railway system underground, the site suddenly become a grey area left without a purpose.
Through our foreign observation, we noticed that Taipei dwellers' sense of cultural value slowly being replaced as they embrace the compulsion to admire foreign customs over their own. From this perspective, we have created on this site a themed path, surrounded by programs depicted by the existing planning, in an attempt to provide Taipei dwellers with a space to search, reflect, and appreciate their own cultural values and standing.
