February 22 is Lantern Festival in Taiwan. On this special day, Taiwanese will display decorative lantern and eat Yuanxiao as celebration.

And each year Taipei City government holds Taipei Lantern Festival since 1997. In Taipei Lantern Festival, students can show their creativity in the lantern competition. Taipei Tech has won its second first place trophy in a row.

By combining interaction device and vivid appearance, Taipei Tech’s art piece use monkey and Taipei City as its central ideas. This art piece shows many attractions in Taipei across time including Longshan Temple, Cheng-En Gate, Taipei 101, and Miramar Ferris Wheel.

The 27-people team is led by Fong-Yi Lin, the Director of the Department of Cultural Vocational Development, and architecture Da-Gi Lu. By augmented reality device, visitors can use cell phone to swipe QRCODE next to the art piece and see a fantastic firework show.

This year’s Taipei Lantern Festival is held at Taipei Expo Park from Feb 20 to Feb 29, we hope to enjoy a lovely and warm holiday atmosphere by visiting out work said the Taipei Tech team.
