Who is Linda?
Linda Mkhazimulise Masina came to Taiwan to study Mineral Resources Engineering in the Swaziland Program offered by the Department of Material and Mineral Resources at Taipei Tech in 2013. Now he is in the third year of college and hopefully to graduate in June 2017.
Take off for a Bigger Picture
The interest of learning the difference between cultures is what pushed Linda abroad at the beginning. Coming from a small country like Swaziland makes him want to gain global perspective even more. “I don’t want to just be a fish in a pool but a whale in the big ocean”, said Linda. Since Taiwan has always willing to engage educational programs with Swaziland, Taipei Tech became Linda’s first choice when he consider to study abroad.
Life in Taiwan
From education perspective, Taiwan, as a great platform for students to explore available resources offers one of the best programs. From social perspective, living in Taiwan is quit amusing despite the fact that black people are not common in Taiwan. After I got here, I learned how to stay open-minded and always willing to embrace new things. Seeing and actually being in a different culture gave me culture shock at the first place but it turn out to be a fantastic journey when I focus on my original intention of coming here. Every little detail becomes a part of my life.
Life in Taipei Tech
Taipei Tech has English programs that make our study more efficient. And I think Taipei Tech did every good thing to help international students to learn. In my spare time, I still have opportunities to interact with local students such as joining National Model United Nations club and soccer club.
Experience of National Model United Nations
Linda flied to New York for National Model United Nations in 2015 as one of the members from Taipei Tech. The team of Taipei Tech was composed by 14 elite students from 7 countries. With their extraordinary performance, the team of Taipei Tech was awarded the Honorable Mentioned Delegation. In National Model United Nations, students spend a lot of time together practicing, sharing view point and socializing. It is truly a good way to know other students including local and international ones.
