Taipei Tech student’s awarded design for gaming mouse

Orca, also as known as killer whale, is the one of the top predators in the ocean. Its strong attack power makes it a warrior in the water. And this is exactly the reason why designer, Yu-Sheng Li, choose Orca as the image for gaming mouse. The idea is that the speed and fluency users experience when using Orca is as same as a killer while swimming under the surface. The look of Orca is a combination of biological features of a killer whale and mechanical element, a design that focuses on both artistic and functional aspects.

In order to mimic the movement of a whale tail in motion, Orca uses magnet to form the tail behind mouse itself. It is this delicate final touch that brings out the design spirit of Orca.

Designed by Yu-Sheng Li and Instructed by Ming-Zhi Huang, Assistant Professor from the Master Program of Innovation and Design ,Orca was awarded Bronze in the 5th Thermaltake’s Fantasy World Creation & Design Competition.
