

The number of people who do regular exercise has been steadily climbing for the past 5 years in Taiwan. And the ratio has reached 83% in 2015, according to Sports Administration, Ministry of Education, Taiwan. Many of these sports fans choose to work out in the evening after work. In response to this trend, Taipei Tech research team developed a baseball which is perfect for night training anywhere. Designed and developed by students at the Graduate Institute of Electrical Engineering, Moneyball is a special baseball with sensors, Bluetooth, and micro embedded LED system in it that can light up according to its movement status. When the ball is moving and rolling, it lights up so that users can see its trajectory. The light will go off when the ball is still for 5 seconds, and then flash twice. In addition to light signal system, the ball is also connects with an App that can tell you the speed and times of each ball throwing. Won gold in the 2016 National Microcomputer Application System Design Competition in the signal processing and communication group, Moneyball not only break time limit of baseball training but also makes it more effective.
