The Oriental Redwood Furniture Company donated 1 million TWD to set up a scholarship at Taipei Tech’s Department of Industrial Design (including Master Program of Innovation and Design) since 2016. In order to promote Taipei Tech students’ innovative design as well as to boost its marketing path, the scholarship gives any student who was awarded in top defined by the Ministry of Education, R.O.C. 30 thousand TWD. Xiang-Don Yao, General Manager of the Oriental Redwood Furniture Company noted that this scholarship is in honor of creative culture education and a good beginning of cooperation between Taiwan and Mainland China. So far, already 5 groups of students have been benefited from this scholarship said the Department of Industrial Design. Most of them participated in Red Dot Design Competition and iF Design Award and then applied for this scholarship. Leehter Yao noted that Taipei Tech Department of Industrial‘s woodcraft skill is one of the finest among Taiwan universities. Many senior managers in famous furniture and carpentry industries were graduated from Taipei Tech.
