
The Ministry of Labor and Taipei Tech joint hand to cultivate talents in the field of digital printing for textile. After two-month of professional training, the outcome presentation of the first graduate class of textile industry technique training center is going to be held on June 23. On the presentation, managers from dozens of companies will also attend for job matching with our 43 graduates. Zong-lun Ye, the Principle Investigator of the program, noted that the curriculum design is systematic and rounded. Every student will learn about design, technique, equipment, operation, and marketing in order to get a whole picture of the industry. In addition to theory, practical skill is also important and emphasized in training process. Students have to be familiar with digital printing machinery and create their own design products with it from scratch.
Bao-hung Ye, Chairman of the Digital Printing for Textile Technique Committee, noted that talent cultivation in printing, digital, and textile is separated in the past. This program is a breakthrough for not only integrates those areas but also includes manufacture and marketing professions. He expects the program to foster technology textile industry development and to fill up the talent gap in the domain.
Shu-Hui Chen, supervisor of the Center, said that many of our students didn’t have prior experience in the field before signing up for the class, but their product quality is so high that even received real orders after debut in market. Although we expected our students to polish their resume and to gain advantages when negotiating their salaries after complete training hours, profit is not the only thing created from the project. In order to help build self-confidence for children in orphanages, student also launched a public fundraising initiative that helps to print out T-shirt with kids’ own drawings on.
Wan-Ting Wang, student of the program, said that the class has offered more than she expected. Solid practical experience is the most impressive part for her. And she is also surprised that all the faculties are famous experts in industry. Not only did she successfully develop a new profession but also create social network that will bring her more opportunities in the future.
