In order to promote VR technology as well as cultivate related talent in the industry, 2017 VR Jam Workshop was held from June 26 to July 2 attracting faculties and students from 7 universities across the island. Co-organized by Taipei Tech and HTC, the workshop divided participants into groups to fast create an outcome in various topics including virtual concert, visual art and sculpture, virtual idol, electronic music, costume design, and motion capture performance, etc.
The workshop also invited professionals in industry from across the nation and overseas as instructors to share experience and thought with participants. The VR seminar held by award-winning new media creator Huang Hsin-Chien, HTC Virtual Reality Center vice General Manager Liu Si-Ming, and Hollywood producer Randy Finch was a highlight in the agenda.

After 7 days of brainstorming and absorbing, an outcome conference was held on July 2 to showcase student’s creativity. After the conference, HTC and Taipei Tech officially launched a VR Jam Lab aimed at breeding cross domain VR talent through academia-industry cooperation.
2017 VR Jam Workshop organizer and Director of the VR Jam Lab Cao Xiao-Yue noted that the lab will open more related training courses in the future providing cross-device and cross discipline experience in order to boost VR innovation.
