Taipei Tech signed MOU with Chang Gung Hospital

In order to foster academic cooperation and clinical application, Taipei Tech and Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on November 30, 2016. Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital has always been active in communicating with top academic research institutions. As a university which works close with over 130 medical institutions in Taiwan, Taipei Tech has great research power in electronic, electronical engineering, chemical engineering, and so on. Combining these research strengths with the hospital’s clinical experience in medical care, the MOU signed between the two parties is expected to elevate medical device R&D affectively therefore benefit numerous patients worldwide.

The MOU signing ceremony was co-host by Leehter Yao, Taipei Tech’s President, and Ming-Huei Cheng, Director of Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. Both sides agree to pour fund into four domains including co-hold international conference, sharing teaching and research resource, creating mutual recommendation channel for conducting research to one another’s institute, and fighting for government projects.

Leehter Yao noted that although Taipei Tech doesn’t have department related to medical care, many outstanding R&D result in electric, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, molecular, and Biotech & Health Care were produced during cooperation with medical institutions over 20 years. Moreover, Taipei Tech also has great knowledge of technique transfer and commercialization process since we have innovation research and development company.

With complete and long-term care system, Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital is a good intern partner for students. Current cooperation including caring robot R&D, precise cancer treatment using Nanotechnology, biomaterials R&D for ophthalmology and orthopedics departments, and 3D printing technique applications. President Yao believed that abundant results could be reaped from this MOU in the near future.
