“She Maker”: new era of female makers has begun

Taipei Tech and National Taiwan Science Education Center offered a stage for “She Maker” event on March 8. “She Maker” is an exhibition that shows the power of women makers by exhibit a series of works designed and manufactured by women. The exhibition is abundant including the first wearable iron-women suit, maker car, 3D-print women apparel, and Virtual Reality etc. “She Maker” not only demonstrated women maker’s enthusiasm but also encouraged more women to join maker courses.

The maker car that designed and produced by Taipei Tech students enables the disables to drive by turning their head or rolling their eyeballs.

During the event, Xiao-Yue Cao, Associate Professor from the Department of Interaction Design, gave a speech about the gender awareness in an era of maker. Cao shared her experience of working in the technology industry from the perspectives of both a tech employee as well as a visual designer. Cao also encouraged female to join the tech industry and improve society by bringing warmth and caring to it.
