Taipei Tech’s attempt on interactive learning material: VR, AR and board game

The importance of environment conservation has been emphasized in education field for years. But what can we do to increase student’s learning interest in class and make related knowledge accessible? Taipei Tech team works hard in transforming rigid textbooks into interactive games that will easily attract student’s attention. For the past two years, the team has been dedicated in developing and improving environmental protection learning materials. By exchanging experience with local teachers in elementary schools and junior high schools from the Nation, they are capable of locating student’s interest and teacher’s teaching blind spot and develop various materials to elevate learning quality in class. Catching CO2 interactive VR device and Green Energy board game/AR system are just some examples to name a few. In addition to promote eco-friendly knowledge in cities, the team also went into schools where education resource is scarce.

The controversy of cement manufacturing has gain much attention because of the death of Taiwan acclaimed director Chi Po-lin (齊柏林) who had expressed his concern about the issue for a long time. In fact, the process of cement manufacturing will produce massive CO2 and bring hidden danger to our earth. Taipei Tech Interaction and Design doctoral student Huang Jie-ru noted that there might still be a way out. We now have the technique that can catch CO2 with calcium oxide before it spread out. The Catching CO2 interactive VR device Huang’s team created enables player to act as calcium oxide and to catch CO2 using VR handles.
