Taipei Tech and PSA Partner on NT$50M AI Initiative
Focusing on Sovereign and Agentic AI to Jointly Cultivate Next-Gen Talent

National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech) and Passive System Alliance (PSA) signed a three-year, NT$50M industry-academia agreement today (10th). Witnessed by Political Deputy Minister of Education Kuo-Wei Liu, the agreement was officially signed by Taipei Tech President Yi-Jun Jen and PSA Chairman Anthony Chiao. The partnership will focus on AI R&D and next-gen AI talent development—specifically advancing Sovereign AI and Agentic AI—by combining Taipei Tech's research strengths with PSA's practical industry expertise.

In Deputy Minister Liu`s remarks, he highlighted talent development is a key factor in enhancing national competitiveness and also emphasized that the Ministry of Education continues to promote the deepening of industry-academia collaboration in higher education foster deeper connections between higher education and industry to align academic research with market demand. "This partnership centers on innovative AI applications, joint talent cultivation, and smart manufacturing upgrades," Liu noted. " By pooling resources, PSA and Taipei Tech provide students with opportunities to engage in practical industry work, thereby cultivating tech talent equipped with both AI expertise and industry application capabilities, while also offering a concrete model for collaborative talent development.

Taipei Tech President Yi-Jun Jen stated that the university has long operated on the principle: "Industry poses the challenges; academia provides the solutions." By combining cross-disciplinary research with real-world corporate needs, Taipei Tech ensures its research directly serves market demands while training job-ready talent.

Centered on PSA’s blueprint for its proprietary computing center, this collaboration leverages the AI R&D capabilities of the Taipei Technology to jointly drive the development and deployment of Agentic AI in smart manufacturing and corporate operations. The initiative spans areas such as production line system integration, predictive maintenance, and quality enhancement, as well as corporate knowledge management, knowledge transfer, and the automation of administrative processes, ultimately creating an enterprise-grade AI application ecosystem characterized by security, autonomy, and sustainability.

President Jen added that the initiative features a comprehensive AI curriculum paired with hands-on field training, enabling faculty and students to tackle real business challenges. Top-performing students will also have direct opportunities to join PSA’s AI team, seamlessly bridging education and employment. Building on this alliance, Taipei Tech plans to establish a campus-wide "AI Proving Ground" and apply for Ministry of Education grants to expand industry-academic cooperation, further strengthening the link between instruction, research, and industry application.

PSA Chairman Anthony Chiao noted that while rapid AI advances drive industrial transformation, human talent remains the true core of future competitiveness. "Schools provide knowledge; companies provide practical experience," Chiao remarked. He praised Taipei Tech’s long-standing leadership in engineering and tech education, noting that pairing it with PSA’s global market footprint creates a powerful synergy. Through hands-on AI projects, students will work on real industrial challenges, turning theoretical knowledge into practical skills, critical thinking, and cross-disciplinary problem-solving capabilities.

Taipei Tech and PSA share a strong history of collaboration. Partnership efforts began in 2018 when Walsin Technology Corp joined Taipei Tech's International Industry-Academia Alliance. In 2019, the two institutions introduced Industry 4.0 smart manufacturing technologies to PSA's Malaysia facility, where Taipei Tech faculty led student teams to implement on-site deployments. Over the years, Taipei Tech has leveraged its smart manufacturing teaching factory, research teams, and resources to support PSA’s digital transformation while tailoring customized training programs to cultivate local talent.
