Taipei Tech and Taikoo Motors have been working together to create a complete industry training program in order to develop international level car technicians for the automobile industry. This program provides the students with both the theoretical knowledge and the hands-on experiences they need. It also creates an opportunity for employment after graduation from Taipei Tech. It is an advantageous situation for the vehicle engineering students, in which they can obtain a university degree, a car technician certificate and even possible employment.

Established in the 1970s, Taikoo Motors is one of the largest automobile distribution companies in Taiwan. The company specializes in selling passenger cars and commercial vehicles, such as Volkswagen, Audi, Volvo, and Chrysler, Making it one of the most diverse automobile distribution groups in Taiwan.

Taikoo Motors stated that within 2012, it is estimated that they will need approximately 50 reserve employees. In view of this, Taipei Tech has developed a curriculum designed especially to satisfy the need of Taikoo Motors to hire highly skilled technicians. In addition, Taipei Tech’s President Yao stated that starting this year, students entering the program will be required to go through mandatory internship. Consequently, students can gain hands-on experiences and will be able to start working in Taikoo Motors soon after they graduate.

Taikoo Motors boasts of a complete and well established company operations system and offers attractive employee benefits, which appeals to many students interested in working in the automotive industry. A female Taipei Tech student intern at Taikoo Motors stated that although the internship was labor intensive, she would still choose to work there after graduation. She added that “I don’t necessarily need to work as a technician; I am also interested in working in parts and service departments.”
