Daikin Donates 30 Million to Establish Green Environment Control Testing Center at Taipei Tech

The heat and the humidity in the summertime make it almost impossible to live without an air-conditioner. The frequent use of air conditioning system, however, increases ozone depletionand global warming. In order to solve these problems, Ho Tai Company, the agent of Daikin Company in Taiwan, donated 30 million NTD to establish the Green Environment Control Testing Center thataimedto improve air conditioning techniques by increasingenergy effectivity and decreasingdamages to ourplanet.
Yang-Cheng Shih, professor from the Department of Energy and Refrigerating Air-Conditioning Engineering, notedthat although nowadays we couldreduce ozone depletioncaused by refrigerant technology, greenhouse gas wasstill a thornyissue. In the future, raisingefficiency and staying eco-friendly at the same time would be the key focus.
Dr. Leehter Yao, president of Taipei Tech, notedthat Taipei Tech establishedthe first Department of Energy and Refrigerating Air-Conditioning Engineering in Taiwan. By building the Green Environment Control Testing Center, it was hoped that it could provide an experimental field and test reports for air-conditioningmanufacturers. In addition to the above features, the Green Environment Control Testing Center couldalso increase students’ competitiveness by providing practice opportunities.
Ho Tai Company representative notedthat air-conditioning includednot only cooling and heating, but also air interchanger, humidity control, electricity saving, air delivery, and noise reduction. They hoped that the Green Environment Control Testing Center wouldprovide testing service needed by industry and cultivate talent within academia.
