A new way for selling tradition crafts: student starts a gallery and earns hundreds of thousands in 4 months

In order to promote local crafts from hometown, Nantou County, Guan-zhen Jiang used virtual and physical platform to start a gallery called "Liang Gong Mei Qi" (literally means great crafts and beautiful products) in September, 2016. Only 4 months after the gallery has launched, Jiang already got over 20 deals done and earned 8 hundred thousand NTD. Not only did Jiang made a profit that is quit appealing for a senior student, she also helped expanded customer base for artists through this gallery.
To open a new channel for local artists to sell their crafts was the original idea behind starting the gallery said Jiang. Renovated family’s old warehouse and used it as the physical store for her gallery, Jiang also set up online merchandise platform at the same time. Painting, bamboo handicraft, lacquerware, pottery, and stone carving are main products in Jiang’s store. With her knowledge in art appreciation and cultural administration and management, Jiang noted that it is her pleasure to bring art crafts into people’s life.
Jiang’s gallery is only one of 32 amazing projects in the 3rd graduation exhibition of the Department of Cultural Vocation Development held from December 20 to 30 at the Art and Culture Center at Taipei Tech. Li-ling Zheng, Director of the Department of Cultural Vocation Development, noted that many cultural and creative products on current market are lack of cultural knowledge, and she encouraged students to let their creativity flow and bring new energy to Taiwan’s tradition.
