Clipless pedals provide you with a relaxing riding experience while pedaling in high speed. However, the pose of separating feet from the pedals is not intuitive enough. If user is not familiar enough with the usage of clipless pedals, it often leads to accident. “Safe Pedals” improves existing products, so when you chase the wind and enjoy the ride, you no longer need to worry about security issues. To get off the clipless pedal, biker needs to fully stretch their leg and bent their ankle. But when people encounter danger or nervous, bent ankle is not their first thought. “Safe Pedals” improved this problem and changed the design of get off clipless pedal without bending ankle. With “Safe Pedals”, we expected bikers to ride more safely and smoothly. Designed by Si-Yuan Huang, student of the Master Program of Innovation and Design, “Safe Pedals” was awarded Merit Award in the 2016 Sport Technology Innovation Competition.
