Luggage passport: a smart name tag for luggage

When traveling by airplane, does the waiting time for your luggage always seems longer than your expectation? Not even mention the possibility of mistake or missing of it. What if we can make the whole process of retrieving luggage more efficiently therefore increase the ease of passengers? Taipei Tech team came up with the idea called Luggage passport that integrates plane ticket, seat, and baggage conveyor belt to take a better care of everyone’s suitcase. The plane ticket will have a QR Code that shows passenger information, tax-free store coupon, and luggage arrival notification.
At the baggage conveyor belt, a LED screen will show its owner’s seat number and region color for every luggage so that people can recognize their belongings more quickly and decrease the chances of taking the wrong luggage.
Design by Mi-Qian Huang, Yi-Yu Chen, and Zhen-Yu Xu, students from Taipei Tech’s Master Program of Innovation and Design, the Luggage passport was awarded Bronze in 2017 Great Design competition. The Great Design competition was first held in 2002, and a total of 562 pieces of entries participated in 2017.
