Taipei Tech Inaugurates President Yi-Jun Jen AI-Enabled Personalized Learning for the Future

On February 2, National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech) held an inauguration ceremony to formally install Professor Yi-Jun Jen as its 15th president.
In his inaugural address, President Jen emphasized Taipei Tech’s commitment to its core academic values while embracing artificial intelligence to enhance personalized learning—“teaching in accordance with students’ aptitudes.” He outlined a vision for strengthening the connection between talent development, industry collaboration, and applied research. By doing so, the University aims to equip students with the adaptability and innovation necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
President Jen also expressed gratitude to former Taipei Tech presidents for their leadership and the solid foundation they laid. Under their stewardship, Taipei Tech has steadily reinforced its position as a practice-oriented research university, earning recognition as an “engine for industry” and a “cradle for enterprises.” Through institutional strengthening, alumni engagement, and expanded research capacity, the University has advanced campus development and secured additional land resources, supporting today’s stable growth.
Reflecting on Taipei Tech’s century-long legacy, President Jen reiterated the University’s enduring commitment to pragmatic, application-driven education. He highlighted the University’s role in cultivating generations of professionals who contribute to national industrial development and public service. Moving forward, Taipei Tech will continue to solidify its position as a national leader in technical and vocational education. Moreover, the University will provide faculty and students with the tools needed to incorporate AI into teaching and research, enabling truly individualized learning experiences. Citing physicist Stephen Hawking, he added, “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.”
At a crucial juncture for technical and vocational education, President Jen remarked, “The essential responsibility of a university is not merely to respond to the present, but to be accountable to both the past and the future.” Taipei Tech will continue to be a university that younger generations aspire to join—working with partners across society to embrace the future.

The ceremony was attended by distinguished international guests and representatives. Diplomatic missions from Belize, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Paraguay, and Eswatini offered their congratulations. Also present were representatives from the German Institute Taipei, including Director General Mr. Karsten Tietz; the Arizona Commerce Authority (Director Mr. Steve Hsu); the Japan–Taiwan Exchange Association, Taipei Office; the German Trade Office Taipei (Chief Representative Dr. Eva Langerbeck); the Free State of Saxony Office Taiwan (Dr. Josef Goldberger); and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Taipei Office), among other international friends and Taiwan-based representatives.
Following the ceremony, diplomatic representatives and international guests were given a tour of Taipei Tech’s landmarks, including the city-designated historic Red House, Yida Corridor, and the Taipei Tech Archives, gaining firsthand insight into the University’s heritage and campus culture.
