After nearly three years of pandemic-related travel restrictions, Taipei Tech finally restarted cross-border visits to its global partners recently, hoping to reinforce international academic exchange. Taipei Tech President Wang Sea-fue, Vice President Yang Shih-hsuan, and Dean of Research and Development Office Chuang Ho-chiao visited Tohoku University, Kyushu University and Osaka Institute of Technology (OIT) in October to discuss future cooperative strategies.

Wang indicated that Tohoku University, Kyushu University and OIT have been long-term partners with Taipei Tech. “Both President Hideo Ohno of Tohoku University and I shared the same excitement and joy as it is the first time after three years that we are able to meet in person,” said Wang.

Taipei Tech has been cooperated with Tohoku University in the fields of material science, sustainable energy, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, and health technology. Now both parties are planning on implementing more joint research projects and co-host a joint symposium in November. 

Vice President Yang said that Kyushu University President Tatsuro Ishibashi noted that “Taipei Tech is the first academic delegation from Taiwan that pay an in-person visit to Kyushu University after the pandemic”. Both Kyushu University and Taipei Tech will broaden their future cooperation in the fields of design, sustainability, artificial intelligence, materials and energy, aiming to establish a stronger partnership and a closer exchange network. 

Chuang said that since 2017, Taipei Tech has joined force with OIT to implement Problem-Based Learning (PBL), hosting cross-field, cross-disciplinary and cross-border events. “We hope that more partner universities can join us to together cultivate students’ language abilities, communication skills and teamwork skills through PBL,” said Chuang.
