To officially establish partnership and to strengthen academic cooperation, Taipei Tech signed an MoU with University of California, Riverside (UC Riverside) on March 8th. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Taipei Tech President Wang Sea-fue, UC Riverside Chancellor Kim Wilcox and delegations from both universities.   

President Wang indicated that in the 2022-23 Center for World University Rankings, UC Riverside was rated in the top 1.3 percent of universities worldwide. Its alumni include two Nobel Laureates and many Members of the National Academy of Science and the National Academy of Medicine. “Both Taipei Tech and UC Riverside had been planning on rolling out joint degree programs in the fields of chemical engineering, electrical engineering, and Computer Science and Information Engineering before the pandemic starts,” said Wang, “and now we can finally facilitate the cooperative projects that we have been discussing about”. 

Chancellor Wilcox noted that the Dean of Taipei Tech Industry Liaison Office, Huang Sheng-Tung, is an alumnus of UC Riverside, and the key person who helps to bridge the connection between UC Riverside and Taipei Tech. Both UC Riverside and Taipei Tech have a long-standing history and are strongly connected and supported by the cities that they are in. “I am honored and glad to meet with the representatives of Taipei Tech in person and form an official partnership together,” said Wilcox. 

Wilcox further indicated that both universities will explore opportunities on Mandarin educational programs, joint research programs, joint degree programs and international PBL programs.
