Czech lower house speaker led the largest group of delegation of any Czech delegation traveling overseas to visit Taiwan. 14 academic delegates from Czech Technical University (CTU), Charles University, Masaryk University, Brno University of Technology, Technology Agency of the Czech Republic as well as Senate of the Czech Republic and the representatives from the Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei visited Taipei Tech on March 27 to seek cooperation opportunities. Taipei Tech and CTU also signed an MOU at the occasion to strengthen partnerships between the two universities.      

Wang Sea-fue, Taipei Tech President, indicated that this is the second time in three years that Taipei Tech welcome and host the academic delegation from the Czech Republic. “It is also the second time in three years that CTU Vice President Radek Holý paid us a visit in person,” said Wang. Taipei Tech and CTU have been partners for over 15 years. CTU is one of the most favorable exchange destinations for Taipei Tech students, and more than 150 students from the two universities had joined the exchange program. To deepen the partnership, Taipei Tech inked an agreement with Czech Technical University to jointly invest in research in semiconductors, sustainable energy, smart cities, the Internet of Things, and information security monitoring.

CTU Vice President Holý indicated that 11 years ago, he had the chance to visit Taiwan for the very first time. During his visit, he found that Taiwan is a beautiful country with very nice people, and he had made many good friends since then. “I am looking forward to having more collaborative opportunities with Taiwan in the near future,” said Holý.

Taipei Tech and CTU have established partnerships back in 2007. CTU is one of the oldest technical universities in Europe and the top technical university in the country. CTU is not only regarded as the birthplace of professional engineers, it also cultivated many government leaders such as former President Václav Havel, and the current speaker of the Czech Parliament's lower house Markéta Pekarová Adamová.
