Weltall Helps Taipei Tech Lead Adoption of Semiconductor Molecular Contamination Monitoring System

Weltall Technology Corp. (Weltall) has donated a 16-channel multi-point molecular contamination monitoring system for cleanrooms to National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech). Valued at approximately NT$5 million, the equipment will be installed at the Semiconductor Research Center under Taipei Tech’s Frontier Institute of Research for Science and Technology.

The system features chemical filter monitoring technology required for advanced semiconductor processes. It enables real-time detection of trace contaminants in cleanrooms and strengthens Taipei Tech’s capabilities in cleanroom environmental monitoring and validation. With this donation, Taipei Tech becomes the first university in Taiwan to introduce molecular contamination monitoring equipment for advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

Building a Third-Party Verification Platform

Taipei Tech President Yi-Jun Jen said the system will support the university in building an independent third-party verification platform to help meet industry needs in advanced process quality control and environmental monitoring, while further enhancing Taipei Tech’s semiconductor research capacity.

The equipment is expected to generate more than NT$10 million in related technical services and industry value, contributing to Taiwan’s capabilities in semiconductor process environmental monitoring and quality management.

President Jen noted that Weltall has extensive expertise in cleanroom molecular contamination gas monitoring and environmental analysis. Its service network spans major technology hubs in Taiwan and overseas, providing key environmental monitoring technologies and services to the semiconductor and high-tech industries.

Outstanding Alumnus Gives Back to His Alma Mater

Weltall’s General Manager, Yi-Nan Kuo, is an alumnus of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Class of 1987, at Taipei Institute of Technology, the predecessor of Taipei Tech. He was named an Outstanding Alumnus of Taipei Tech last year.

Kuo has extensive experience in environmental monitoring and analytical instrumentation for the semiconductor industry, and has been instrumental in driving Weltall’s steady growth. In recent years, the company has been recognized in the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ 7th Rising Star Mittelstand Awards.

Kuo and Weltall have also remained committed to giving back to society, with charitable donations exceeding NT$30 million. Since 2017, they have continued to support Taipei Tech through equipment donations and funding for teaching and research development, with cumulative contributions valued at over NT$10 million.

Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration

Taipei Tech said the donation will further strengthen collaboration between the university and industry. The equipment will be incorporated into relevant courses and research projects, giving students hands-on opportunities to learn about cleanroom environmental monitoring and contamination control.

The initiative is expected to deepen students’ understanding of industry needs and help cultivate engineering talent with strong practical skills.
