Sanyang Chairman Ching-Yuan Wu Donates NT$5 Million to Advance Taipei Tech’s AI Talent Hub

President Yi-Jun Jen of National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech) recently visited Mr. Ching-Yuan Wu, Chairman of Sanyang Motor Co., Ltd. and a distinguished alumnus of the University. The two discussed industry-academia collaboration, emerging industrial trends, and strategies for cultivating engineering talent.

President Jen noted that in response to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, Taipei Tech is actively advancing plans to establish a comprehensive AI center that integrates education, research, and industry applications. This initiative aims to integrate the University’s research capabilities with industry resources, creating a key platform for AI talent development and industrial applications. Chairman Wu expressed strong support for Taipei Tech’s efforts in advancing AI education and applications, and donated NT$5 million to support the development of the AI center, talent cultivation, and financial aid for underprivileged students. He expressed hope that the contribution would inspire more talent to enter the field and promote the practical application of AI technologies in industry.

Distinguished Alumnus Leading Sanyang’s Continuous Innovation and Upgrading

Chairman Wu is an alumnus of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Taipei Tech (Class of 1979) and was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2021. Upholding the University’s spirit of “Sincerity, Simplicity, Perseverance, and Diligence,” he has led Sanyang Motor to regain its leading position in Taiwan’s motorcycle market. He continues to drive innovation in product design and technology, earning widespread recognition both domestically and internationally.

Over the years, Chairman Wu has actively supported his alma mater, supporting the Department of Mechanical Engineering in establishing the Industry 4.0 “Intelligent Manufacturing Teaching Factory,” a pioneering hands-on training platform, thereby strengthening industry-academia collaboration. His contributions serve as a model for alumni enterprises supporting technical and vocational education.

Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration Through Smart Manufacturing Exchange

The visit was attended by Ms. Hui-Hsin Wu, Special Assistant to the Chairman of Sanyang Motor, and Mr. Yung-Chang Hsu, Plant Manager and Taipei Tech alumnus. Representing Taipei Tech were Secretary-General Chen-Ching Ting and former Director of the Alumni Center, Tao-Hsing Teng.

Through alumni networks and industry-academia collaboration, both sides aim to further strengthen connections between enterprises and the University, fostering technical exchange and talent cultivation.
