National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech) received the top honor in the Sustainability Report category at the 7th Global Views University Social Responsibility (USR) Awards in 2026. President Yi-Jun Jen attended the awards ceremony and said in his remarks that Taipei Tech and Global Views are good neighbors. He noted that the University’s open campus, framed by riverfront views and green corridors, has long embodied the idea of a sustainable campus integrated into education. He expressed his hope that students would cultivate a sustainability mindset, and that faculty would apply their engineering expertise to all aspects of sustainability.

He also recalled working with the Taipei City Government more than 20 years ago to transform the corridors along Xinsheng South Road and Zhongxiao East Road into ecological walkways—turning streets once associated with frustration into inviting public spaces where people could enjoy riverside scenery on their way to what is now Syntrend Creative Park. He noted that this journey reflects Taipei Tech's spirit of sustainability in action, and expressed gratitude to Global Views for providing a platform for sustainability report evaluation, which allows universities to learn from one another and strive together. Taipei Tech, he said, will continue to refine its efforts and achieve even stronger results in the years ahead.

Aligning with International Standards — Strengthening Forward-Looking Sustainability Governance

President Jen further explained that, in terms of information disclosure, the sustainability report  is fully aligned with international standards, following GRI and SASB guidelines, and  newly incorporates the TCFD climate-related financial disclosure framework and the  Ten Principles of the UNGC,  thereby enhancing transparency in climate risk management. In terms of issue management, the University has also introduced double materiality analysis and ESG external impact analysis to strengthen its ability to identify risks and formulate strategic responses.
Twin Engines of Teaching and Research — Five Consecutive Years as the World’s No. 1 Green University

In terms of teaching and research innovation, Taipei Tech has offered more than 1,800 sustainability-related courses, systematically integrating sustainability topics into its curriculum to cultivate students' sense of social responsibility and interdisciplinary competencies. The university has also ranked first nationwide for several consecutive years in the Ministry of Education's Teaching Practice Research Program. In environmental sustainability, Taipei Tech has ranked No. 1 globally in the High-Rise University category of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for five consecutive years, demonstrating outstanding achievements in resource efficiency and ecological resilience as an urban campus.

Driving Net-Zero Transition — Building a Model for a Sustainable Campus

Taipei Tech has introduced a greenhouse gas inventory system and set a target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2048. Through AI-powered energy management, renewable energy adoption, and green procurement, the university is steadily advancing its low-carbon campus transformation. In addition, the "Campus Perimeter Trail Project" was launched in 2024, creating an ecological and livable campus environment through green corridor connectivity and pedestrian-friendly design, fostering stronger ties between the campus and the surrounding community.

President Jen concluded by emphasizing that Taipei Tech will continue to deepen its sustainability development strategy, leveraging AI technology to drive sustainability, and integrating teaching, research, and social practice to build a model of sustainable governance that demonstrates the pivotal role of technological and vocational education in society.
